Course 3 – 5 DAY OSCE, TREATMENT PLANNING & MEDICAL EMERGENCIES – £1250

This course covers all you need to know about to following components of the ORE:

  • Objective Structured Clinical Examination
  • Dental Treatment Planning
  • Medical Emergencies

All the components will include guidance on how the exam will be conducted and what to expect during the exam. The course is designed towards more focused learning to improve your chances of success in the exams.

The information is delivered as appropriate for the ORE exam, and all materials are also appropriate to what you would expect in the exam.

You will also have a tutor who will provide support until you pass your exam.

DAY 1: SKILLED OSCEs

This day is focused towards Skilled OSCE stations which are a part of the OSCE exam. This day will start with a briefing on how the exam is conducted.

You will be given guidance on the exam approach for each station as well as effective time management – a crucial part of passing your exam. We will also offer support in understanding which points to keep in mind, with a focus on understanding exam criteria which will be explained for each station.

This day will start with a briefing on how the exam is conducted.

You will be given guidance on exam approach appropriate to each station as well as effective time management – which is key to passing the exam.

You will also be given guidance on communication skills (extra classes in communication skills are also available) as well as the points to keep in mind, with a focus on exam criteria explained for each station.

DAY 3: DENTAL TREATMENT PLANNING DAY

This section of the course will explain how the exam is conducted. Lectures will explain how to approach the exam with guidance on completing exam forms with effective time management.

DAYS 4: MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

This day is focused on Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice. Relevant updates will also be included if applicable.

  • CPR on Adult and Child demonstrated on manikins.
  • Demonstration and hand on practise of BLS and AED.
  • Use of ME drugs and equipment.

  • 2 mocks – one morning and one afternoon. Each mock is followed by feedback session

She successfully cleared the ORE in 2018. She earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of East London in 2019. Dr. Al-Harbawee completed a comprehensive two-year core training in maxillofacial surgery at Leicester Royal Infirmary, coupled with mixed oral surgery and pediatric dentistry training at Birmingham Dental Hospital. Currently, she practices as a general dentist in Leicester, showcasing a diverse and accomplished career in dentistry.

Ian qualified from Leeds in 1998 and went into general practice in the North West. In 2001 he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. In 2002 he joined
the teaching staff at Liverpool Dental Hospital in the Periodontology Department where he became the Undergraduate Teaching Lead in Periodontics and a Senior Clinical Teacher
in Periodontics, a role he held for 5 years until leaving that position in 2018. In 2010 he completed his MSc in Periodontology and in 2013 he was admitted to the GDC Specialist
List in Periodontics. In 2023 Ian was invited to become a Fellow of the College or General Dentistry.
Ian is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Periodontics at UCLAN where he teaches on their Periodontology MSc programme and also teach privately under the banner of PerioCourses.
Ian spends three days a week in private practice in the North West of England where he takes referrals for all aspects of Periodontology. He is the British Society of
Periodontology regional representative for Merseyside and Cheshire, and serves on their Council as Honorary Treasurer. In 2014 he was also elected to the BSP Faculty.

Dr. Shari Jane Daniels

Shari arrived in the UK in 2010 to pursue a PhD in Orthodontics. Due to changes in recognizing Australian dental qualifications, Shari, a 2002 graduate, had to take the Overseas Registration Examination (ORE) to register as a dentist and specialist with the General Dental Council (GDC). Passing the ORE Part 1 in 2011, Shari faced delays in the availability of the Part 2 practical
exam. Professor Nigel Hunt suggested the LDS exam, a faster alternative, and Shari passed both written and practical components in 2012, despite its limited spots.
Teaching dentistry and orthodontics since 2004, Shari held a Senior Lecturer position at The University of Otago, New Zealand, in 2010 and 2011. While preparing for exams,
Shari noticed a lack of orthodontics coverage in training courses, potentially challenging candidates with limited knowledge. Shari’s teaching philosophy extends beyond exams, focusing on instilling a sense of responsibility in students to become exceptional clinicians for future patients.
