Launch of SynTrain International Academy
SynTrain started from humble beginnings, when Synergy’s CEO, Dr. Zuber Bagasi wanted to create an internal course to train his own dental practitioners. He enlisted the help of his own mentor, Dr. Anil Shrestha to create the course content and teach alongside him, and SynTrain Academy was born.
Our First Hands-On Course
Our first hands-on course was open only to internal delegates, and used the same “tell, show, do” method of teaching we still use today, blending theoretical learning with live demonstrations to improve understanding before allowing delegates to practice the procedure themselves under the support of a more experienced mentor.
Our First Post-Graduate Diploma
After the success of our first hands-on course, we began to expand our offering with our first post-graduate diploma in implants and restorative dentistry (Level7), opening our courses out to external delegates from across the country. Not only did we gain approval from EduQual, making our courses academically approved, we also received endorsement from Straumann themselves.
SynTrain Goes International!
As we began to gain recognition, we recognised there was a gap in the market – nobody else was offering advanced training for dentists with this “tell, show, do” model of learning. Through the development of our online learning platform, we were able to open our courses for dentists across the globe!
MSc Collaboration with The University of Bolton
The demand for our courses only kept increasing. With more people in the dental world starting to pay attention to us, we attracted support from the University of Bolton who recognised the quality and skill of our teaching programmes and requested that we collaborate in the creation and running of all of their MSc courses.
Dr. Sandra Garcia Martin Joins SynTrain
SynTrain really was turning heads at this point! Dr. Sandra Garcia Martin was already running her own courses in cosmetic dentistry from her base in London, but wanted to take her courses to the next level – and she knew SynTrain had the answer!
Dr. Reena Wadia Joins SynTrain
With a number of big names behind us, we started attracting even more interest within the dental world, securing collaboration from Dr. Reena Wadia of RW Perio to work with us on expanding her perio-school courses and offering opportunities to upskill to dentists worldwide.
Syntrain International Academy X Takeover Ski
In May 2024, we joined forces with Takeover Ski to create something truly unique. We wanted to combine academic courses with an opportunity to have fun and network with colleagues – together, we invented our ski and learn masterclass courses where dentists can enjoy a holiday at the beautiful ski resorts of Bulgaria whilst also taking the time to learn new dental skills.
From Harley Street to The North West!
Our reach now stretched far and wide, with collaborators across the world and all over the UK! To plan our future curriculum, new courses, and the year ahead, we headed down to London to meet with our key collaborators; Dr. Anil Shrestha, Dr. Sandra Garcia Martin, and Dr. Reena Wadia as well as academic qualifiers from CGDent.
Looking Back and Planning Ahead
Our founders, Dr. Bagasi and Dr. Shrestha took the time to look back on all SynTrain had accomplished. In just one short year we had secured endorsement from The University of Bolton, Straumann, and some of the biggest names in dentistry. What started as an internal training course was now a global phenomenon in dentistry.
